All artwork is designed and made in New Zealand and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. All artwork is finished by hand, therefore some variation between the same product can occur. This is not considered a fault. HANGINGArt with channels on the backMany of Lisa's works come ready to hang using 12mm deep hanging blocks that are attached to the back of each work. These are custom made and make the artwork "pop" out from the wall for added impact. Art can be hung using picture hanging hooks, screws or nails, 3M Picture Hanging strips (indoor use only) or external foam tape. Please ensure you follow the manufacturer's instructions and use the appropriate number of screws or hooks or tape, dependent on the size and weight of your art. Artwork must be hung on the longest hanging block as this is the load bearing block. Words eg. hello, home and kia ora are designed to be hung vertically, reading either up or down. Roped artworkRope artwork is designed to be hung on a hook or wall dot - using the rope. Any blocks on the back are not load bearing, they are to ensure artwork lies evenly against the wall. They can be secured with blu tack or hanging strips, as required. Address & Personalised signsAddress and personalised signs come with 6mm holes - to hang with screws (not included). You will need to use the appropriate screws for the medium you are hanging on. They can also be hung with standoff wall mounts to make them pop off the wall. Stand off mounts are sold separately and must be ordered at the time of purchase as require larger holes in the sign. If using stand off mounts, please ensure you do not over tighten the resin screw to allow for steel expansion during hotter months. Individual House NumbersSign mount attachments are included with most black, white, gold or brushed stainless steel house numbers (unless the number is too small).
Screws are not included as the correct screw for your medium needs to be used. Corten numbers have holes for hanging as need to be screwed up. Over time, the rusting process can impede an adhesive., hence the requirement for the holes. Please let Lisa know when you order if you would prefer not to have holes in corten digits. Brushed stainless steel numbers and signs have an adhesive coating on the front for protection during shipping and hanging. Once hung, remove the protective adhesive coating (brushed stainless numbers only) and wipe any residue off with the Brilliance wipe. Wider/thicker fonts may mean the number needs holes to hang or standoffs can be purchased. CAREMatt black, white, gold and other coloured worksLisa uses high grade 304 quality stainless steel for her black, white, gold and coloured collections. Artwork has a Dulux "Electro" coating on front and sides - a UV resistant durable product designed for architectural use. Art can be wiped clean with a clean damp cloth then dried with a clean dry cloth. This is the same grade of stainless steel as a high end BBQ and has a far greater resistance to corrosion than mild steel or galvanised steel. Like windows, your art/numbers/sign needs periodic rinsing with clean water, to wash off environmental residue and salt deposits that may cause corrosion over time. Marine Grade (316) Brushed Stainless SteelLisa's brushed stainless designs use high grade 316 marine grade quality stainless steel. Stainless steel’s resistance to corrosion and staining, low maintenance, and attractive lustre make it an ideal choice for indoor or outdoor art. A complimentary "Brilliance" Wipe is included with your purchase to enhance your art, as required. The Brilliance non-toxic wipe cleans and shines, leaving a protective coating against smudging, markings, and finger prints on stainless steel. Apply Brilliance, as needed, wiping with the grain. Leave on for 5 minutes then wipe dry with paper/soft cloth. Additional wipes are available through quality hardware stores. This is the same grade of stainless steel used in marine environments however, like with windows (and boats), your sign does need maintenance to keep it at its best and free from tea staining. Tea staining is a cosmetic discolouration of the steel and does not affect the structural integrity. Wash regularly with clean fresh water, mild detergent and a cloth or soft brush. After washing rinse in clean water and wipe the surface dry with a soft absorbent cloth remembering to go with the grain on brushed stainless steel. Generally you should wash your stainless steel every time you wash your windows or every three months - more often if you are in a coastal zone or after a heavy storm. Do not use abrasive cleaners or a scouring pad of any type as they may cause excessive wear and dull the finish. Even marine grade (316) stainless steel finishes in coastal environments may show tea staining if not washed regularly. Corten SteelLisa uses 3mm New Zealand corten steel for her corten work. Corten is a corrosion resistant steel that, left uncoated, develops an outer layer patina. The patina protects the steel from additional corrosion. It is an architectural steel and will not rust away, like cheaper steel is prone to. Corten looks fabulous if lightly sanded every now and then. It takes time - with exterior exposure - for the rust layer to completely form and seal. Corten seals and fully weathers best when it is repeatedly exposed to moisture and then allowed to dry. During this time, depending on the climate and where your number/sign is placed, your work may bleed and have a slight rust runoff. Generally this is if the sign is touching a surface. Art can be rusted faster by repeatedly spraying with water or sea water. Art can also be coated with Penetrol (available in spray and paint form at quality hardware stores) to stop the rusting process and maintain the look of the artwork at any stage. This looks fabulous however requires a few coats, with drying between each coat.
